Let’s chat about multi-generational trips to four or five-star properties with kids. To go or not to go? That’s the question parents have asked themselves since the beginning of time. From my experience, the benefits far outweigh the challenges. My oldest son began his travels at 5 weeks old. What newborn doesn’t want to visit Napa Valley?

Now onto Villa d’Este, Italy, and our multi-generational family trip. Did our littlest four year old traveler almost fall between the boat and dock because she didn’t want to hold hands with the captain? Of course she did. Did we have a meltdown on the front lawn of Villa d’Este? We sure did. Did we all need to take a big time out? Oh yes, we did. Did we all recover and move on to enjoy the entire day and experience together? Hell yes, we did!

Here’s my point about traveling with kids. At times, it can be challenging, but being at home can be challenging too. So why not plan ahead for the best, hit the road, and let your kids show you how resilient they are, and in turn, how resilient you are? Trust me, they will do better with jet lag than you will ever do! Seeing the world through their eyes is truly the most magical experience a parent could ever imagine! Bonus: Europe is incredibly welcoming to children, including luxury resorts and dining.

Villa d’Este is located on the shores of the most romantic lake in the world, Lake Como. Surrounded by 25 acres of enchanting grounds, the villa was built in 1568 as a summer residence and converted into a luxury hotel in 1873. Exceptional service, attention to detail, and unmistakable style make Villa d’Este a universally recognized icon and a beloved destination for luxury clients. Don’t forget to check out their Kids Club!

What’s Your Luxury? (You can’t say sleep; it doesn’t count; you’re a parent).
